Why Instagram downloads fail
What source restrictions mean, and what to do next.
Public does not always mean accessible
Instagram can require a login, limit requests or expire a media address. A downloader cannot guarantee access to every public link. A removed or private post cannot be recovered by trying different output formats.
Check the actual link
Copy a post or Reel link using Instagram’s sharing menu. Links to search results, feeds or the login page do not identify a media file. Framekit strips tracking query parameters before attempting extraction.
Use your original file when possible
If you created the content, your original upload is usually a better editing source than Instagram’s compressed copy. Upload it directly to the toolkit. Framekit never asks for your Instagram password and does not attempt to unlock private content.
